LTD-163D Problems with new DVD movies

Postby BeerNut on Sun Dec 01, 2002 11:14 pm

I was wondering if anybody else is having problems playing new dvd movies with the liteon LTD-163D. I have several dvd movies and all of them work fine except for LOTR special edition and Star Wars:Ep2. When I try to play these two movies the movies can't be seen by the drive or they thake forever(several minutes) to load and work for only a short period. The movies are brand new and play fine in my stand-alone dvd player. I'm using the newest firmware loaded from dimitri's site.

Maybe it's the software decoder you're using? I'm assuming that you're not using a hardware decoder like a Sigma Hollywood card.

I don't have DVD's as new as your's, but the newest one I have is The Count of Monte Cristo [released in the summer] and it works fine for me with PowerDVD XP 4.0

I still have the original firmware.

I have firmware GHR5 and SW2 plays fine. I use a number of players, all of which work fine.

problem with LOTR special addition

Postby vanzini on Mon Jan 06, 2003 1:25 pm

I have had the same problems with LOTR playing back. It will get to a particular spot on disk two and just hang. Played it on a stand-alone dvd and there was no problem at all. I'm running WINDVD 4.

Are you using the same firmware BeerNut is using (ghr6f); theres a newer firmware GHR7 you can download it from dimitri's website:

All the best, dimitri (a.k.a digi)
http://digi.web1000.com or http://digitri.tk or http://kickme.to/digitri
LiteOn/Jlms dvd drives: info, firmwares, regional freedom

I'm not sure this will solve the problem but just try.
