Uh oh! I wish I would've gotten a Best Buy gift card instead of this Circuit City one... If anyone gets this drive, I would love to have its firmware!

If you want some more information and insight into who manufactures the drives for BUSlink's 48x12x48 CD-RW model, check out the following thread.

It looks like Best Buy also has a 50 spindle of Maxell CD-Rs for $2.99 after rebate. Does anyone know if TY makes these? I usually buy the TY Fuji's when they are on sale at Best Buy but if these Maxell's are decent, I'll snag them as well.

Thanks 8)

In addition to those CD media and CD-RW drive deals, I happened to find a very good deal on Crucial DDR RAM.

Crucial Technology 256MB PC2100 (266 MHz) DDR DIMM Memory
$99.99 - $37 Instant Rebate - $28 Mail-In Rebate = $34.99 VERY HOT!
SOLD OUT!

The cheapest price for the same stick of RAM found on Newegg.com was $54.99.
I also did a search on pricewatch.com, and the cheapest price found for a 256MB PC2100 DDR RAM module was $44 for a generic brand.

Thank You For Correcting My Ad! :D

The 40x Maxell CD's have only been known to be made by Ritek. I think only some of the older Maxell's were made by Taiyo Yuden.

The only current Taiyo Yuden-manufactured blank Maxell CD-Rs are the music CD-Rs and the CD-R Pro.

The Maxell CD-R Pro is available at Best Buy, but it's not the one on special that BuddhaTB mentioned earlier. :)
My solution to the Plextor vs. Lite-On debate: Buy 'em both! :)

not so much correcting as wondering if maxell media merited a mention :D

i love the ritek DVD-R media (get them for less than a $1 each after shipping from prestoshopper), how does the ritek CD-R media stack up against TY?

The Maxell media did merit attention. It's just when I was looking through the ad online, I just saw the green labeled spindle and thought it was another deal on AT&T media. But Thank You for catching my error and the thread has been edited to reflect that.

As for your second question, Ritek CD media is pretty good. I would say Ritek is 2nd or 3rd behind Taiyo Yuden and stacks up pretty close to the Verbatim DataLife Plus series of CD media. Check out the CD Compatibility thread to see how well Ritek media does in your CD-RW drive.
