DRU-500A

Postby realdieu on Thu Jan 02, 2003 12:32 pm

Hello:

I know very little about this drive or technology. My interest in this is to use the DVR to store large files or data such as MP3's.

Can I use this feature to store up to 4.7GB of data using a DVR or do I have to use the CDR feature to store only 600MB. I'm not interested in creating videos or anything. I simply like the capability to store more information than the typical CDR.

Thanks!

Well I also use DVD's to store data. I have not tried mp3 files but that is a good idea. I use a multisession mode on Nero to do it but I am sure Stomp or other programs would do it as well. The specific application I use it for is to store my backups of my Quicken data base. Well actually I just backup the whole Quicken program since I have so much room on the DVD. I use those blue Princo -R/W discs for this application. They work quite well for this application. Your idea for mp3's is a good application also. I have lots of those tucked away on hard discs here and there. It would be a good idea to round them all up and put them on DVD's.

Hope this helps.........
Have fun.........Bob

It's more like 4.3X GB. They came up with 4.7 by using 1000 instead of 1024 multiplication.
