I have had this drive. The one I had was made by BTC, but now Sony uses drives from BTC and Liteon. So do check out the drive label before buying. The BTC one, the label should have Top Glory somewhere on the label. FOr the Liteon, it should have a unique label on the manufacturing date of the drive just like any Liteon drives.
Thanks I guess it's better for my buddy to get a Liteon to be sure and be done with it. I haven't been too impressed with Sony drives in the past anyway.
