Burn baby burn!

help with sony crx195a1 40x 12x 48x

I just bought a sony burner. I installed it, and it read cds fine. bu the computer does not recognise it as a burner. when i enter nero or cdrwin it says i have no cd recorder. can someone please help me with this?

What version of NERO are you using? You should update to 5.5.10.0 if you haven't yet.

yeah im using 5.5.7.2 but would that matter as it doesnt work with cdrwin aswell

exactly like dhc014 said!

upgrade Nero to the latest one!

as for cdrwin, i never liked that program, it does'nt support new burners.
you can try getting the latest version of cdrwin also!

BTW nero can burn (.bin) image files also.

What does it show as in device manager? Did you have a cd-rom on that channel before? Maybe the drivers are conflicting. You could try uninstalling them and then letting windows detect the drive again.
What does Nero Info Tool say about the drive?

It doesn't support new burners because it reads the ID string of the drive and compares it to what it has stored for supported burner ID strings. New model numbers are of course not in an old program, so it doesn't recognize them. The newest version(s) of cdrwin do work with the 195, as well as the 210 and previous Sony cd writers. The 215 is as-of-yet unsupported, though.

That is correct. Unfortunately, if the .bin file contains multiple tracks, then Nero cannot burn the image correctly.
