LAST $20 Cendyne 48-12-48 Office Max drive...but what IS it?

Postby scottm on Tue Dec 24, 2002 10:18 am

I know many of these are 48125W Lite-Ons, but the last one they had said CW-4802 on the box. Is this a Mitsumi? I seem to recall that model number. It actually mentioned Mt Ranier right on the box---rarity. Anyway, I'm sure someone out there in CDR guru land picked up one of these during these few days...before I open the box does anyone know the "CW" brand?

Thanks

Doesn't surprise me. No distinguishing markings on the drive itself? What does Nero (or BIOS) say it is for the ID string?

Rediculous...

I called all Office Maxes... How many freaking drives does Cendyne use for their 48-12-48?

Update: I found some answers...

LTR48125W (Lite-On)
CW 4802 (Optorite?)
4816P (Benq/Acer?)
48X12X50 (Aopen/Ricoh?)

Anybody know what the heck are all these? ;)

i have the same one with the cw4802 model number and i am taking it back. it sucks and it is nothing like the liteon drive. this drive has the same model number as the optorite but does not look like the same drive as the picture on optorite.com

this new version of cendyne only gets a average recording speed of 34x and audio extraction does not get past 42x
