support for high speed cdrw's

Postby Mombo on Mon Dec 23, 2002 1:39 am

I bought some cdrw's. My recorder is a Phillips CDRW 800 series 8/4/32 something or other. At any rate, new high speed cdrw wont work cuz says recorded doesnt support high speed cdrws. Can I upgrade the cd writer somehow so it can use these, or do I need to get cdrws that this drive will burn? thanks

The disks probably wont write at 4x so no, you can't write on them if that's the case.

Two options:

1. Buy CD-RW discs rated 1-4X
2. Buy a faster burner that can burn High Speed CD-RW's

By the way, what kind of CD-R's do you use? A friend of mine has the Philips CDRW800 and she can't burn any 700MB discs. Does the drive not support them or something? It could very well be the CD-R manufacturer; she has used Imation and Memorex discs, both manufactured by CMC. She has had luck with Maxell 650MB CD-RW discs, that's why I ask if the drives supports 700MB discs. If it does support 700MB discs, then I'll ask her to buy another brand, one that doesn't package CMC discs inside.
