This drive was tops in speed for a good while, and though now it has bigger better brothers up to 200 GB, it is still a good drive and at a good price. It normally goes for $112 - $117 at newegg.com.

Those TDK CD's are made by Ritek if your curious.

I have seen more CMC made TDK's on the shelfs now than ever before here in the USA. If they say "Made in Tiawan" youre getting CMC or Ritek. Most of TDK's "Color" CD-R's are made by these two companies also.

The best TDK's are made by Tayio Uden and are 32X or 40X rated. They come with the spin-on cap, opque shrinkwrap and say "Made in Japan" like the ones TY make for Fujifilm, HP or Memorex.

I've got one of those and it's little brother with only the 2 meg cache, but I can't tell squat about their speediness since I'm still running a P2 333MHz machine!
