PQ DriveImage doesn't work with LiteOn 52246S ?!

Postby PuntoRosso on Mon Dec 16, 2002 8:52 am

Hi there,

since some days I'm owner of the new LiteOn 52246S. :)

Unfortunately the drive doesn't work with PowerQuest DriveÍmage 5.01. :(

Whenever the program (=DOS mode)is starting it hangs up with a fatal error, only removing the drive solves the problem. My Ricoh and Yamaha CDRW are running properly with that application.

It makes no difference if PQDI is starting from virtual floppy (=HD)or rescue floppy. Also no difference if PQDI is embedded in Win 2k,xp,me.

Who has same experience or a solution
Do other LiteOn drives work with PQ DriveImage 5.01 - who has positive experience.

THANK YOU for your postings !!

The answer is simple but not pleasant: Your drive is not supported by Drive Image.

Power Quest has a supported cdrw list on their site - no liteons there.
This excellent imaging program uses it's own DOS based burning engine but it does not support a great variety of drives.

Do you want to buy my old Sony CRX140E? it's supported.

Yes, DI 2002 has a totally different burning engine and it supports: "all 8x cdrw and higher"

@dimitri:

Thanks !! for your info. I've checked the PW web site (www.powerquest.com), but was not able to find the supported CDRW list you've mentioned in your posting.

Could you be as kind as to send me the link or describe where I can find this list ? -thanks again

I'm sorry, they've seem to have removed the list. You can't find ANYTHING about version 5! I've seen the list not even a month ago and I even found the link to it amongs my stuff:
http://www.powerquest.com/driveimage/cdlist.cfm
But it redirects to some DI 2002 page..

Drive Image 2002 works well with neither my 48125w or 52246s. The way I do it now is to just make an image that is split into 690mb parts, then burn with Nero.
