Saturday night special from CeQuadrat: free WinOnCD 5 PE

Easy Media Creator, Toast, RecordNow, MyDVD, WinOnCD, DLA, etc.

Postby jmbrown12 on Sun Dec 15, 2002 2:38 am

It downloads the entire program and you can install it later. It even gives you a program to run if you need to download it again.

I would think that once the download authorization is received that there will be an extended period to finish the download.

Otherwise, anyone trying to download right before 2 AM wouldn't have a chance. :o

Damn, the stuff we do to save $60  . Oh well, that is a few hundred blank CD-R's we are talking about isn't it? I just hope that the translation is well done.

You can backup the license which is needed to reinstall it. I am installing it now. I will definetly be burning a backup copy of this.

Gotta Reboot.

Okay. The download creates a directory structure rather than a single file, so there are a bunch of sums. You can use MD5Summer ( http://www.md5summer.com/ ) to verify all of them at once. Here they are:

No doubt, especially if it is translated better than the last *ahem* "evaluation copy" that I used.

WinOnCD 5 is a very good program and has practically the same features as v6, which just has a little shinier WinXP type interface and and a few minor updates.

I remember using a previous version (before it was called WinOnCD) back in 1999. I absolutely loved it for general purpose writing. I have only one complaint. The version of CeQuadrat I used In 1999 had a animated record dialogue, with a pen writing the data on the disc. I wonder why they no longer have that. Oh well. You can't complain when you just got free software!

That may be gone, but in its place they provide you with a fun game with which to while away your time while waiting for the burn to complete. WocBlock - is there a prize for winning?

Well, it seems to work fine. There is a lot left for me to learn about it, but so far it is promising. One thing I can report is that it lets me easily choose either of my two burners. Wow, a free download lets me choose either drive while the two licensed copies of Nero that I paid for, between them, only allow me to use one burner without closing Nero and editing the registry. :x

I will look forward to more testing and exploring.

A BIG thanks to Han for alerting us to this opportunity.

You're welcome. I'm downloading it now, although I have the original for almost a year... :D

And those who are asking where did I find out about full version free download: I've spotted it on the Burning Issues forum. It was posted with permission by someone who is close to CeQuadrat...

Han, can you tell me if it is possible to create data CDs with long filenames with WinOnCD 5 PE ?
by long filenames i mean longer than the 63 character limit of Joliet, which is enforced by Nero.

if so this would be HUGE plus for me.
if so, do you know what the actual limitations are? number of characters in the filename? how many directories deep? total pathname of a file?

and once again thank you very much for the tip! :P 8)

Sorry, I don't know that exactly. There is an option to allow 128 characters for NT long file names and you can "free" directory depth limit. Both features are under the preferences for Data CD project...

If you got the VBox installer program during the 4 hour window and got the cd key with it, you can download it anytime you want.

I'm home now and downloading it as I type this!

Thanks guys!
