Of course, there is a lengthy recovery process if you do kill your drive.
It's covered in the the thread with the guide. But you need another identical drive to the dead one.
But why jump through all of those hoops. Just order the drive, replace it with the dead one, and RMA (or return it) as a dead drive right out of the box. Get your $ back. Just buy it from a store with no restocking fee. Don't even think about doing a mail in rebate with the new drive before you return the dead one. That's
