Can Warcraft III be copied?

Postby BuddhaTB on Thu Jan 01, 1970 4:15 am

If so, please list the procedure to do so since I'm a newbie to CloneCD.

Also, what kind of protection does Blizzard Software put on their CD's?

I'm taking a wild guess that WC3 is using SafeDISC 2.5x ?

It's just a guess.

securom new -

latest version of blindwrite seems to work well with it. CloneCD does not, at the present time, at least in my attempts to copy it

CloneCD 4 worked for me. You have to copy an image file to the HD first, then copy that image file to a blank CD. When copying the image file for WCIII, set the data speed to 8X and the audio speed to 4X and make sure your CD-RW drive supports RAW-DAO.

why don't you guys ever use clony xxl, in conjuction with clonecd

what clony xxl does, is finds out the protection used on a cd, then loads the correct reading method into clonecd, thus creating a perfect 1:1 copy

since they don't make clony xxl anymore, please pass it along to everyone, if they have enough people using it, maybe they'll start updating it again

I use clony XXL, it's a great program. I love how it will start up clone cd for you with the correct needed settings too.

I would like to say that I have successfully burned war3 on my first try.

I used the clony xxl+clonecd method.
Just for the record, I checked "amplify weak sectors," and i burned at 4x. It probably would have worked with default settings anyway :P

I thought it was just updated at the end of November. AFAIK, the current verion is 2.0.1.0, and there is an English version. I've seen it, but have not installed it.

Yes, Clony XXL was updated recently, but due to some legal stuff they will no longer provide CloneCD settings. Now it will just identify the copy protection scheme for you. However, there is another little program that will take the protection type and set up CloneCD settings for you, it is called CCD4-Profiler v.1.1 beta. These two programs will now take up the function that Clony used to do by itself, but with the improvements in CloneCD recently, they may not even be needed :o . This is some seriously good software 8) . Recent improvements made me forget all about getting a serial for Alcohol 120% which I was demo-ing, at least until I get a DVD burner. C'mon Santa!!!!
