"analizing the file" kills DAE for Nero and Nero E

on the OEM software whenever you try to rip from CD you get "analizing the file" message and it hangs for 60-120 seconds before the DAE.
this did not occur on the previous versions of Nero.
this makes the rip very slow. i have a 48x capable drive that sits and waits for the software!
numerous emails to Ahead remain unanswered.
unless i can rip the way i used to the new Nero is useless to me.
it's soooooo. slow!
this occures with both Nero and Nero Express.
if they want to force me to buy the retail version i will if that will get me a fast rip.
i just wish someone would tell me what is going on!

I assume you mean "analyzing the file".

"Analizing the file" sounds painful.

Now that I've got that bit of silliness out of the way, what procedure are you following in Nero to rip the files? Provide all the details please.

first i click on the device that contains the source CD in the window on the right of the screen.
this brings up a list of tracks on the CD on the right side of my display.
i then highlight the track(s) that i want and right click.
i select "copy to compilation" from the list and that's when the "analizing"
begins.
Nero "analyzes" each track before ripping it and this takes a very long time.

Note: By compiling the selected audio tracks, Nero will analyse the tracks information.

this is what i'm talking about, in the old Nero this didn't happen.
it just riped the tracks very quickly.
now it stops and hangs while it "analyzes".

I don't use the OEM version, but it shouldn't work any differently.

When audio tracks are copied to the compilation window, each track is "analyzed" before being added to the compilation. The "analyze" procedure is the rip procedure. When I run this procedure, the file is being ripped to the hard drive while the window states that it is being analyzed.

If you are experiencing some other delay, I'm not sure what would be causing it. I would suggest that you defrag you hard drive first and make sure that your cache directory (in File | Preferences | Cache) is set up with enough room and is cleaned out. You might also try running the "Test all drive speeds" option in the Cache window.

i use OEM 5.5.9.17 on an XP system.

Nero hangs for 60-120 seconds on every track BEFORE it begins to rip.

What model recorder do you have? And what firmware? If I can get the exact information, I hopefull will have this model in the lab I can test with.

It's not the Rip process that is the issue, correct? Just the pause before the rip begins.

And it does this to each audio file? Or each audio CD you insert for the first time and extract from?

Any programs running in the background?

Is there another XP computer you can take the Recorder to and Nero, just as a test, to see if the problem is with only that system?

i run TDK4800B and TDK5200B burners.
i have the latest firmware from the TDK site.
i have winXP home with SP1 installed.
i have deleted every application that runs in the background.
i had the same problem with my TDK 24/10/40B prior to upgrading to the TDK5200B. in that case, i just went back to the old Nero, i can't do that with the new drives as the old Nero does not recognize them.
i have sent numerous e-mails to Ahead tech support about this issue, if you look in your e-mails you can find complete documentaion from me about this problem including my e-mail address and phone number if you need to contact me.
the rip runs quickly, it's the "analyze file" prior to the rip that takes so much time.
the old Nero worked just fine, this is a problem with the latest version of Nero.

I have these models in the lab.

I will do some test later today and get back to you on this.

As for the information from Previous Emails. As of Nov 1, 2003, we will have a new data base to track Emails and Calls. So we can keep all past and present issues from a customer archived.

But at this time, we are in the transition period so we do not have access for any of this.

I assume you have no unique hardware on your system either? Such as a Zip drive or USB Scanner, etc?
