cendyne 16x/40x dvd at officemax this friday

Anyone know who makes this drive? Its free after rebate, may as well pick one up if its any good...

The romours are it's a Liteon 163. Probably true but they repackage a lot of drives so check the serials to make sure. Might even be a newer Liteon by now like a 166.

How would i be able to tell what's actually in there? Anyway to see from the box, or would i have to open it up?

They apparenlty don't do it with DVD-ROM drives or have stopped doing it...
No model number anywhere n the box (except of course for the CenDyne model number itself) on mine purchased yesterday.

I haven't opened the box yet.
I already have a few month old Artec 16X and a Hi-Val (rebadged BTC)
12X DVD-ROM...
I am not sure if I am keeping it.

I have a guest coming over for two days today, so I have put it away in the closet for now. Just cleaned the place up...

Hey VEFF, if it's not going to your guest or someone else, I'll buy it off you :) I'm in the market for a new DVD-Rom, and was looking at either the Lite-On or the LG 16x.
