Movies burnt on dvds with different burners don't really look different on a TV. What's important is how you encoded the movie, and what resolution it is.
As per the burners, writing quality, and compatibility with DVD players can make a difference. Currently Sony's DRU500A looks the best for that, and its among the fastest burners. Both formats support is just awesome. You can find plently of threads in this forum on how the DRU500A has performed for other people. Ian has also reviewed the drive at - http://www.cdrlabs.com/reviews/index.php?reviewid=154
