Sony 48x to 52X upgrade done ! => Is this now weird ...

Postby DavidI on Fri Nov 29, 2002 11:20 am

Hi all !

I have a Sony CRX 210E1 48/12/48 and using the firmware from here -> http://kickme.to/sony210 I just upgraded it to 52/24/52.

The firware upgrade went without a hitch ..... just burned a 650meg CD and all went well using Nero 5.5.9.9 ....... EXCEPT .......

(a) now when I boot up my PC, the green light on my "upgraded" 210E1 flash's on/off repeatedly [and quickly] for about 4 seconds and then it goes off ?

and

(b) when burning the drive light now turns **RED** [previoulsy green] and pretty much stays red until during the writing lead-out phase ?!?!

=> Is the above normal ?

or

=> Are the above symptoms a sign that I should flash back to its original 48x 2YS1 firmware ?

Thanks,
Dave

Isn't the 52x firmware from LiteOn and not Sony?

Certainly what you have described sounds typical for a LiteOn drive... I wouldn't worry about it.

This is normal since the firmware that you flashed with is modified Lite-ON firmware. Everyone seems to notice this and freak out. The LED's colors will change when overclocking a CRX195E1 as well. I am glad that the overclock went well.

What firmware came on the drive when you bought it? Did you back it up?

Hi Jase & dhc014

Just for my peace of mind, can you please confirm:-

=> in the LiteOn drives, the LED flashs green on boot up and during normal reading, but goes RED when burning, and back to green when writing the leadin-leadout ?

Is this correct ?

BTW:- thanks to the advice on these forums, I did backup the Sony 48x origninal 2YS1 firmware before doing the uograde.

TIA,
Dave
