question about dvd rom's

is there really a big difference between 20x and 16x.? is there a big reason that i should be buying a 20x instead of a 16.? what is the differnce really?

there are, as far as i know, no 20x DVD-ROM drives (yet, anyway).
presumably, when there will be 20x DVD-ROM drives, the difference will be: they are faster! :wink:

I think it would just be faster for reading DVD data, say for example normal files, or if a video game came stored on a DVD.

I think it would be useful as well if you rip DVDs.

It won't make a difference for watching movies I don't think, you only need 1x for that I believe.

I think 20x drives would be a lot more noisier too... :roll:
When are these expected to come out, any rumours?? I am guessing LiteOn and Pioneer will be the first ones to come out with them.
