Since my lite on drive started malfunctioning (read my other post), I started researching on possible causes.

made me think...
Do you think there is a posibility that, constantly reading a disk at 48X speeds and over, puts such stress on the disks, that they start to become distorted or damaged in the long term?. The tests conducted at
http://www.techwarelabs.com/cdexplode/
were short-term, but what about long term use?. Can they become damaged at lower speeds, but in an extended period of use?.
There is even a reported case of a manufactured CD breaking in an Aopen 52X drive.
It's just a thought...
