LiteOn 48125S - about Firmware

Postby Toran on Fri Nov 22, 2002 10:44 am

Huh, I'm a real newbie, since this is my first CD writer now..

' heard much about updating the firmware, but now I'm not sure if I should do this (since there were also rumors about better staying with older firmware).

First, how do I find out what version is on my writer? I did not execute the firmware update file I downloaded, for I don't know if it would ask me often enough if I would like to update... is it used to show the actual version on the writer also..?

Ah, questions over questions, I know - but I don't want to do it in a hurry (they write you can't back-update the firmware...), so I decided to ask here.

THX in advance,
Toran

My philosophy: If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I have never upgraded the firmware of my burners because none of them have shown any problems. However, some people like to upgrade their firmware to add support for another burning method (CAV, P-CAV, Z-CLV, and so on) plus extra media compatability. In order to find out what firmware you have, load Nero InfoTool; at the top select your drive and look below for the firmware version.
