White Label is a budget brand here in the UK (British sellers have a history of putting "white tops" on CDR and DVDR media, starting with Nugen a few years ago).

They're basically badged Princo media, which IIRC has problems with the Sony. Personally I'd use Ritek with this drive, they seem a lot more reliable (that's Datasafe Ritek, Traxdata etc -- www.121cdr.co.uk have both types).

Thanks jase.
You mean white glossy undercoating on top or an actual white label on top?
I have Princo 2X DVD-Rs with a white glossy top (bought in US), that is why I ask.
But I also received (later returned before firmware 1.0d came out)
Prodisc 2X DVD-R with a white inkjet printable, as they are referred to, label on top.
Prodisc seems to have had (now being discontinued) many variations of 2X DVD-R media (silver mirror-like top, white inkjet top and silver frosted top).

Last night tried burning a White Label DVD-R (1x) - failed. I haven't tested the gen 4 2x version yet.

from what it looks like and even the similarity of the serial and numbers on the White Lable DVD-R it looks exactly same as Polaroid media that I am using which works fine.
