Nero still doesn't burn proper DVD Video discs??????

Postby VEFF on Thu Jan 01, 1970 6:40 am

Today, I used Nero to burn a DVD Video disc, which in past versions (all the way upto 5.5.9.9 at least) had not worked (only in my Apex, not my Toshiba or Xbox - The Toshiba and Xbox both play Stomp RecNow Max and Veritas recNow DVD-R DVD video discs).
Nero even mentioned the bug in their version history list of bug fixes,
and stated that the DVD Video compilation type had been fixed to add UDF, so that discs could play in stand-alone players...

I origfinally tried Veritas on the disc, but something was wrong there too this time, otherwise I wouldn't have tried Nero till my cheaper media comes in on Monday.
Anyway, I can't wait for RecNow DX and Max to come out with
the updates for the DRU-500A.

Anyway, back to the matter at hand, sure enough, even with Nero 5.5.9.17 the disc doesn't work in two of three DVD players!
These are the same players that play the Stomp-burned discs.

Wasted another $4 on this (I wasted about $40 worth of DVD-R media originally when using Nero for DVD Video)...

I selected ISO Level 1.
I unchecked Joliet.

Interestingly there is no UDF tab, which there used to be in past versions
of Nero, until they made the DVD Video a separate compilation type.

I'll contact Ahead, and see what is going on...
Burners only:
Pioneer DVR-115D
Pioneer DVR-111D
Plextor PX-716A TLA0304
Plextor PX-716A same TLA

Did you choose "dvd video" on this menu? It has been working for me fine. I can play on both my stand alone players. Although only one supports RW... that is not Nero's fault though. One is Toshiba while the other is RCA. Strangely the older RCA is the one that plays +RW.

Same here I can now actually burn DVDs using the DVD-Video option in Nero 5.5.9.14 and the end result plays problem free in My Pioneer DV-440 and my Sony-NS315.

Yes I did choose DVD Video, BUT I purposely left Joliet UNcheckedand also did not check the allow path stuff, although the path stuff shouldn't matter, because it is only 2 folders and all the file names are
in the official 8+3 format, which is also used by the DVD specification.

Very strange.

Are others who have gotten it to work using Joliet too?
