Anybody tried one yet, planning on reviewing, or have any thoughts on it?

I've got a couple of them but I've only tested the 1TB so far. Performance-wise, its decent for a low to mid-range NVMe SSD. Compared to other drives though, its endurance is a little low due to it using QLC NAND. The 1TB drive is rated at only 200TBW but, honestly, this is more than enough for the average consumer since you'd have to write 109GB a day over 5 years to hit this.

I haven't checked pricing recently. How does it match up?

Don't you have to have a special M2 slot on your board to use those or does it take a standard slot most boards have. I'm not really looking for another drive but I always watch for deals and don't want to end up with something I can't use now. The 480 gig I bought during Prime day is doing well once I figured out how to properly transfer over the boot stuff which was harder then just cloning a normal regular hard drive has been for me.

You just need an M.2 slot that supports PCIe. You'll want to make sure that it has four lanes (x4). Otherwise you won't be able to take full advantage of the drive's performance.

You can also get expansion cards that fit in a PCIe slot. Again though.. you'll want to make sure that its plugged into a slot that has at least four lanes.

Well my i7 980 board is old enough it doesn't have one of the slots pictured with the drive in it. I'm sure though the next time I help my geek buddy with something big I'll probably end up with one with a even faster cpu in it. Probably some version of the latest amd Ryzen chips he's been playing with lately. The i7 is a beast though and sure encodes even difficult videos so much faster than my previous amd1090t hex core its not even close at all.
We built my sister a quad core i7 box with a ssd boot drive and that thing screams compared to the ancient amd quad core she had between the very fast boot drive and the chip.

the 500GB one is $109.99 at Newegg or at Crucial. I guess the QLC NAND explains why the price is relatively reasonable. Doubt if I could outrun the endurance issue.
