New TV

Got my tax refund direct deposited a few weeks ago and were all caught up on bills so decided to check out a new TV for us. Seen a lot of info and reviews for Hisense 4K TV's with HDR for super cheap prices yet they have excellent picture quality and 4 year warranties. Went t my closest Best Buy with supposed stock and all they had was the 50" on display and I wanted a 55. The 50 uses the same local dimming and HDR support so looked at it and it looked fine but of course they had no 55's left in stock but could order me one from the next closest store and ship it free to my house. Decided to just drive over to said store as they claimed to have some in stock. They only had the 50 on display too but we talked about the pros and cons of this cheap set and guy asked if I wanted one and I said sure. He checked, 2 in stock, went back and couldn't find any. I said I just drove in bad traffic for a hour from Gresham so he said he'd double check. He came out and said he did find 2 high up where nobody saw em and would get me one down.
They finally wheeled one out on a cart, I paid 549.95 for a 55" set and we loaded it in sisters 300m that the seats fold down in. Now that it's home this set just blows away my old Sony 50" HD LED set, Sharper, brighter, better black level, and that was just playing 1080p stuff from cable. I have Prime and decided to watch the rest of The Grand Tour and it fed my TV 4k episodes beautifully, smooth, sharp, awesome picture even while streaming over my wired network.
55 is quite a bit bigger then my old set but still fits my media rack/shelf setup, thought about the 65 but it was 800 bucks and doesn't do full array local dimming like this one does so between extra cost and MAYBE not looking as nice stayed with the 55.
IF any of you are think you want a nice 4k set but don't want to spend 1500 to 3000 I'd highly recommend this set, or even take a chance on the 65 as even though it's only edge lit local dimming the reviews are still very good and it's 700 this week, a lot of set for the money and supports HDR too.
It does have a LOT of smart functions including Amazon video, Net Flicks, and a bunch of others and many support 4k streaming,Prime and Netflicks are supposed to if you have a account now.

Very nice. We upgraded to a Samsung 4K TV about a year and a half ago and it was well worth the money... until the stupid One Connect box stopped working.

The new HDR sets are supposed to be able to get way brighter, darker, and have better color range. This set supports it at about 80 percent of what a top end set can do with it. My episodes of the Grand Tour looked awesome but no clue if they were also using HDR as well. It still blows my Sony outa the water even at 1080p, the upscalling of decent HD stuff, even SD looks great.
Couldn't afford any new toys for a while and first two decent refunds after buying the house went to a HE washer, and a dryer the next year. Still had about 78 bucks from last year trying to parcel it out as things I or we wanted or needed, like two pairs of new prescription glasses for me with a eye exam.
Hisense is supposed to be coming out with a OLED set soon so maybe that will be the next uograde next year if nothing critical comes up. They have a curved screen H10 model that I think is supposed to be OLED or close now but nobody here sells it and their suggested price was over 1500 bucks.
I'm sure you paid a lot for your Samsung and I hope they fixed or replaced the one connect box.

It was a gift from my wife for my 40th. I'm glad she bought the extended warranty, otherwise we would have been SOL with that box. Still waiting for the replacement to show up. In the mean time, I'm watching my old 32" Samsung TV. Doesn't look nearly as good.

Cool, my lil sister and her Hubby, plus my parents, bought us a 42" Sony led set for our first Christmas in the new house, then a year or so later they upgraded to a 50" 4k Sony so they gave me the 50 they bought when they decided to get us the 42 so haven't bought a TV myself for a long time. I was surprisingly perfectly happy with both sets, not just because they were gifts or free either.
I didn't opt for the warranty with a 4 year included on this set as I figure I'll upgrade again with luck before the warranty runs out.
32 is pretty small by today's standards but my first HDTV was a Toshiba 34" CRT set in 05.
The 42 after that seemed huge.

Is this brand a US brand? I come from Europe and I've never heard about it before. Do you recommend it?

It's a Chinese brand that makes a lot of sets and is very popular around their area. It has a 4 year warranty and obviously a lot of features for the money you spend. I'm still very happy with it and haven't had any issues with it yet. HDR on YouTube and Amazon look awesome. So far HDR on disk from my Sony ubx 800 ulhd player does not look as good as it should, probably a problem with firmware between the player and TV that one of the two will probably fix soon.
I'd recommend it and they have a 65" set and some newer bigger TVs coming out with more advanced local dimming and more advanced features too. They also are selling similar TVs in the Sharp name too so might be a option for you as well.
