mpeg format

hi
when i burn a cd the final result is this mpeg format not mp3..i went to try and email one of these mpeg formatted
files and it doesnt send the file..to big or something..i tried to convert them but they still end up as mpeg files even
though the converter says mp3..anything i can do?

well so far swtich..but im also trying to find out why its happeneing so i can avoid this problem..
