Lite-On/PLDS Showcases New Blu-ray Drives At CES

Philips & Lite-On Digital Solutions (PLDS), a joint venture of Lite-On IT and Philips will exhibit three Liteon Blu-ray Disc (BD) drives, Plextor BD drives and SSDs at the upcoming 2011 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), according to PLDS.

In addition to Japan-based Plextor, PLDS's OEM clients include Hewlett-Packard (HP), with OEM production undertaken by Lite-On IT. OEM business operation accounts for 60-70% of its total revenues and marketing of Liteon products the remainder, PLDS indicated.

Main models to be showcased at CES during January 6-9 are the Liteon 12x external BD burner supporting 3D and USB 3.0, the eHBU212, and 12x 3D-supporting internal BD Combo, the iHES212 as well as Plextor 12x external BD burner supporting USB 3.0 and eSATA, the PX-LB950UE, and 256GB M2S series SSDs which support SATA 6GB/sec. and can continuously read at 400MB/sec.

Also highlighted is the Plextor’s newly-improved 12X external Blu-ray writer, PX-LB950UE. The PX-LB950UE has been redesigned to improve user’s experience and performance with additional added media compatibility.
