sony soundforge audio editor

im thinking about buying this software and i was wondering if it comes compleate with all the
extras like "pop and click" remover when i do buy it?the trial doesnt have them and i heard
you have to buy other stuff to make these sony things work...is there anyone who has used
this software?if so do you like it?im using it to edit 78s lps etc. thanks

Despite the fact that they develop this software right here in town, I don't use it. According to this page Sound Forge Audio Studio has "Enhanced vinyl recording and restoration tools"

It's not cheap because it is professional software that radio stations, studios, etc use.

EDIT: I see if you buy Sound Forge Pro (not Sound Forge Audio) it comes with it....

sound forge audio studio comes with a noise reduction with it..you mean this is a professional type of noise reduction?i really
cant afford this type of sony product..only the basic noise reduction...thanks...have u used soundforge audio suite yourself?

Do you need the noise reduction? Audio Studio has the pop and click remover stuff built in.

I don't think the less expensive software is as powerful as the professional version. I'm not saying you won't get good results, though. I'm sure it would be better than Nero or Roxio. Those media suites have lost their way and try to do too way much stuff and don't seem to do anything very good anymore other than take up space on your hard drive! I have used Sound Forge with the Noise Reduction plug-in before and it is very good if you know how to get the settings right. Of course, if a record sounds bad to start with (like bacon frying) the results probably won't be great. I think you can download a trial of Noise Reduction 2 and since it is a Direct X plug-in, it should work with Sound Forge Audio (also available as a trial).

On any account when you try to clean up vinyl Do it in these steps regardless of what software you are using...

1. Run the wav file through a parametric EQ and get rid of everything below 20-25 HZ. This is just rumble.
2. Run the de-clicker and be conservative with the settings. If there are just a few big pops, fix them with the pencil tool. Listen carefully to the music and make sure you are not causing more harm than good.
3. Take a noise print sample of 1-2 seconds where there is supposed to be silence. Now run the noise filter on the whole file using conservative settings. Listen to the music and make sure you are not removing the good parts of the wav file!

doesnt the audio studio came with its own noise reduction?its in the trial version..i really cant afford afford the pro. noise reduction so i have to use the regular version.i do everything u suggested except the equilizer..i never understood it before..
i stopped using the noise reduction in goldwave because it makes the tune worse...even they said in the forum for goldwave
not to use it as it cant tell the differance between the good and bad on a record...i used this noise filter on alot of 78s...it
screwed up the sound something awful now i have to redo them.minus the noise filter..thanks for your input..
