Drive Identification

Postby loki74 on Mon Aug 10, 2009 12:56 am

OK, here's a question for you.

I BELIEVE I just purchased a Pioneer 2920Q.

The drive identifies itself as a DVR-216R.

Is that what the 2920Q identifies itself as, or did they send me the wrong drive?

Thanks

It's probably the retail version of the drive that stores like Best Buy sell. I don't knw exactly what the retail store version is but they have done this with their drives for a while so I'd guess your OK but I'm sure somebody in here knows exactly what model that one is supposed to be.

You got the right drive. For whatever reason, Pioneer Electronics (USA) insists on renaming all of their retail drives. In this case, the DVR-216R is sold as the DVR-2920Q.
