Curtis Mathes Blu-ray Disc Player

Is this another Funai player or another el-cheapo model?

Well that may be even better then the Wally worlds units seeing how both players listed have firmwares, and it's cheaper. This almost like when the first Chinese Apex AD-600a's showed up for cheap DVD players when everyone else was charging 250 to 300 for a basic machine. I bought 4 of their units for 150 each and kept one and sold the rest at cost to friends, though my dreams were to get rich on E-bay with them
Now if they have some user reviews saying it can play most movies...

I didn't either. It looks like someone bought it and is now selling electronics under the name.

Well the Chinese aren't totally stupid, by a defunct but known name then sell their crap with it cheap so Americans and others are less suspicious of the products.
They used to sell TV's with the "works in a drawer" that was supposed to make them easy and cheaper to service back when TV's were just getting out of tubes and into transistors, they later became Quasar and some of their TV's indeed were very good but they dropped the works in a drawer shortly after the name change and may have been bought out by the Japanese after a while too.
