No prob. Its good to see that Pioneer is still updating their old drives. I wish other companies would do that.

Thanks, Ian. Any idea if this is compatible with MCSE?

If you are referring to ala42's MediaCodeSpeedEdit, yes it is. I modded my DVR-212D to a DVR-212 to add DVD-RAM support and bitsetting.

Hi,
Having some problems w/ the 1.28 upgrade... getting read/write errors that previously didnt happen. Think it might be related to the new 1.28 firmware. Anyone know how to downgrade it back to 1.24?

Thanks,
Hmr.

Un-rar the Pioneer firmware and use MediaCodeSpeedEdit to "LOAD" the firmware updater program (the exe file) and modify it like this diagram. And then save the file under a new name and use the new updater to load the older firmware.

Hi SithTracy,

Thanks so much for the reply. I am new to flashing DVD drives so I hope this is not a dumb question. Basically, it sounds like you want to me to load the executable 'UPR12TD.exe into MCSE and check 'allow same to same flashing'. Then save the executable as different filename. Once I do that what I need to do to get firmware 'S0813001.124' (version 1.24) back into the DVD drive? Do I run 'UDR12TD.exe' manually from the command prompt? If so I need to set any command line parameters?

I apolize if these are dumb questions. I appreciate all you help. =)

Regards,
Hmr.

Yes, you would run the renamed version manually from the command line. Just make sure it is in the same directory as the firmware file. No command line parameters are needed.

No need to start the patched flasher from the command promt, just double click it in windows explorer as usual.
