Postby hoxlund on Tue Sep 23, 2008 3:39 pm

Just ordered the Popcorn Hour A-110

waiting on the shipping, but this thing looks to do the job perfectly for me, even with my computer in my sig, computer will still stutter occasionaly and ive tried everything, including buying and trying the newest sound blaster sound card, x-fi titanium fatality platinum pro

quad sli with 2 9800gx2 cards, nothing seems to work, i shouldn't have to live with a occasional skip

so got that and going to play .mkv and anything video related off there, will let people know if there intrested on how it works

if anyone else has this or the A-100 let me know how you like it

I've been thinking about picking something like that up. Let me know what you think of it.

I choose the A-110 because it literally plays every format under the sun, don't need wifi but it can with a addon usb wifi adapter

I will for sure let you know Ian how it goes, next batch ships out 27th i believe, already have my 1TB backed up onto other 1tb drives, and its formatted ready to pop in, ohh and it can stream from revision3.com but ill still probably have it download the HD version of diggnation and tekzilla

I wanted Wifi, so I bought a D-Link DSM-520 probably a year ago.

It's one modern weakness is it can't do .mkv/H.264 --the new DSM-750 does that now, and I might be tempted eventually. However, it does DivX/XVid excellently, and upscales to 720p through HDMI quite nicely. I use it both for movies, and for seasons of television; I usually stream from the system in my sig. I have it hooked up to a 42" Panasonic plasma, which has been an excellent television; this November we'll have owned it for a year, with no problems.

When MPEG-4 displaces DivX/XVid completely, I'll transition. For now, it hasn't been an issue.

If the Popcorn Hour had WiFi, I'd be all over it. It looks like a pretty cool device. I may still switch someday down the line.

I've come to appreciate the PS3's media center capabilities. I just wish it played the mkv format without needing to transcode it on the source PC first.
