Ok - I am brand new to Nero having bought the USB hub which included the Nero 6 version about 3-4 years ago. Just opened the package last night to try and record some old cassettes and LPs. Trying to get a cassette recorded first.
It seems I'm recording (the meters jump and then on playback, I hear a clean version - very nice!) but I have to unplug my USB cable in order for my PC speakers to "gain control" again. Very strange, that one. But this is the least of my worries here.
#1 - Holy Moses - I did a 1 minute test of a partial song and the file ended up being 19MB......there's the length of the song but then an hour (?) of silence and/or annoying hum. I quickly figured ut how to cut off the extra "nothingness" but it did not change the file size. I still do no thave any idea how that even got created. How do I avoid this in the future??? It seems to do this every time.
#2 - My Nero 6 software does not seem to like the "Convert Tape to CD" option and hangs forever only to crash when I get boredf with waiting after 15 minutes. However - it does seem to be working when I record using the simple " Record Audio" although the same issue with file size is there.
This might be good software if I can just get past this initial road bump. So any basic posts I can be directed to would be great. I used to be on another bulletin Board for my Tascam Portastudio5 and they had an area where all the same questions were corralled as "Basic Training" sort of area.
Thanks a million for any assist!
