SATA Opticals! Woo!

Postby Bhairav on Sat Aug 30, 2008 11:45 am

FINALLY got the DVR212 up and running! Just upgraded to a Core 2 Quad Q6600, Asus P5Q-E and 4GB DDR2. Validates my thesis that the damn NF4 chipset sucked for SATA opticals.
Q6600@3.1Ghz | Asus P5Q-E | 4GB DDR2-800 | 8800GT | 4TB HDD | Viewsonic vx2025wm
Xonar DX | Pioneer DVR-212 | Pioneer 111L | Benq 1655

I've been pretty lucky with my NF4 chipset. I haven't had too many issues.

Only issues I have with my old Asus an8-SLI deluxe is getting 4 1 gig memory sticks to work and optical SATA on the extra raid port, they seem fine on the normal port that's built in.
Now finding cheap DDR memory is also getting to be a problem, I think we'll all be updating to something newer that supports DDR2 soon enough.
I'm just trying to hold off on spending a bunch of money for the latest and greatest as long as possible.
