As posted at SuperHeroHype.com. The Mach 5 looks cool!

I'll probably end up seeing this one next year...

I too will go see this movie. I remember seeing Speed Racer for the first time back when I was seven years old and it was called "Meteoro". This was when we lived in South America for a short time in 1970. I got hooked on the series from the get-go. Then again when we moved back to Jersey.

I wonder what vehicle they used as a platform for the Mach 5, maybe a Corvette or Viper?

This must be the Transformers of your generation. I can't say that I've ever watched an entire episode of the show.

Depends on the budget. I remember the first "Fast and the Furious" movie used the most stripped version of every car that was available except for the Supra Twin Turbo. The Eclipse featured was basic, no AWD or turbo. The Volkswagen Jetta was a basic 2.0L model (no turbo or VR6 engine). The only things they did were to gussy them up with stickers, wheels, and shiny chrome-ish parts. They later sold them on Ebay, and made insane prices, probably because the dashboards were signed by the cast and for collector's value.

I think nowadays, they're just as likely to either use CGI, or use effects that make cars look fast, without necessarily making the cars incredibly fast themselves. Of course, maybe I'm just jaded.

The full trailer is online. I've never been a Speed Racer fan but this movie looks insane.

My expectations for it are kinda high considering how good "The Matrix" and "V for Vendetta" are.

While we're doing anime, let's bring back Star Blazers. Man, I miss that show.

Just came back from seeing Speed Racer and it did not disappoint. The whole family enjoyed it. My oldest daughter (9) said she can't wait for the DVD.

This is going to be an extraordinary summer with movies... It started with Iron Man and Speed Racer. Now looking forward to Prince Caspian, Indiana Jones 4, Get Smart, The Clone Wars, The Dark Night, Hell Boy II, The X Files 2, another Mummy movie (curious, I liked the first 2), and Wall-E.
