Ok, to use Nero Wave Editor is OK, I did it once. However, it is a PITA and I won't do it again. That is, only if I really want to have the music and cannot find the same album on CD.

OK, here is the deal, I want the ID3 type tags on my songs. So you have to do this manually by typing for all the songs. Now the pieces of the tags are: File name, song title, album title, year, genre, artist and may some other stuff. I don't want to type that for each song that I digitize from cassettes. I use the Sandisk Sansa E200 series music players now and their database organises the songs based on those ID3 tag parameters, so I want them all to be "tagged" to each song.

10-4?

patience.. you don't need to make a second thread asking the same thing.

Here are a few pages I found that might help:

http://www.nsftools.com/misc/TapeToCDNero.htm
http://www.ehow.com/how_2182292_transfe ... ds-cd.html (its vinyl to CD, but the concept is the same)

CS: What is your endgame? Audio CDs? Digital solid state MP3/WMA player? Other?

For example of ID3 tags:
1. Get one of your cassettes
2. Go to Amazon.com
3. Find that same album as an audio CD
4. Download one of the songs for 99 cents.
5. Hover over the filename of the song with your mouse cursor
6. That yellow box should show up with information about the song
7. Those are known as tags, such as: Album name, Artist name, song title/name, etc.

If you are going to make CDs and play them like an LP record, so '50s :D , tags don't matter.
I use a solid state, Sandisk Sansa player; I can't do without the tags.

Yes, once you have used the Wave Editor in Nero 6 to read the music off cassettes and convert them to WAV format files on your hard drive, you can use Nero 6 to burn them back out to Audio CDs.

Same thing with records, 78s, 45s and LPs as you just use the same feed into your motherboard, LINE IN. However, if your turntable has a magnetic cartridge, you'll need to preamp it. If your turntable has a ceramic cartridge, it should be the right level of the LINE IN.

Hey, I was in Barnes & Noble several years ago, just browsing - looking for nothing, and saw this CD. It is the exact replica of an LP that I bought about 50 years ago and still have. With no hestitation, I just snapped it right up.

I ripped the CD into my hard drive and exported it out to my Sandisk Sansa player. I would not even think of the hassle of reading my LP into PC with Nero even if I had a turntable. Same with cassettes - too much work. PCs are the result of the industrial revolution - we are not supposed to work for them, they are supposed to work for us.

If I can find my old music that I had on cassettes or LPs, I'll just rebuy on CDs or just download form Amazon directly. Then I play the music on my Sansa player. Just as cassette players are so '80s and obsolete, CD players are so '90s and are fast becoming obsolete. :D
