Microsoft Says No Blu-ray For Xbox 360

If pretty much every company involved in either of the two new formats past record holds true reguarding hidef rumors, this denial will result in an anouncement in about 7-10 days confirming the add-on BD drive

Here's the quote everyone is going nuts over:

"Xbox is not currently in talks with Sony or the Blu-ray Association to integrate Blu-ray into the Xbox experience,"

The way I read it, he's saying there won't be an Xbox 360 with a built in Blu-ray drive. There's no mention of the addon.

By the way, I think it would be a SMART move for Microsoft to release a Blu-ray add-on for the Xbox 360. This product would probably take away sales from the PS3, which Microsoft would definitely be interested in doing. If they DO wind up releasing a Blu-ray add-on, I suspect it would be manufactured by someone like LiteOn and have almost nothing to do with Sony or the BDA in general.

I've been thinking about buying a console for the upcoming Star Wars game. The PS3 has been the obvious choice for me as it supports Blu-ray but if the Xbox supports it too, I might go that way as the online experience is better.

I'm also deliberating on which to buy. My biggest concern right now is the supposed fan noise from 360's. Also, IMO they are overpriced VS the PS3, 20GB 360 @ $350 VS 40GB PS3 @ $400, but it has a BD player.

Yes, I've heard that price drops for both systems are quite close now. The PS3 has actually been selling above cost for a little while now, so it's usually a good bet it'll drop in price when that happens :P ("above cost" does not include the huge amount of $$$ spent on R&D, only the raw cost of manufacturing the PS3 itself)
