Verbatim Dual Layer media ?

I'm still using Verbatim MKM made in Singapore, dual layer media in my Benq DW1640. I looked recently at Micro Center and in 10, 15 or 20 packs I could only find Verbatim, made in India, DL media. How's the quality and performance of this stuff? What are some good alternatives? I'm guessing that if I find any more of the MKM made in Singapore, it will be remaining older stock, which would be fine if I could find some.

Any suggestions on DL media? I'm not giving up my Benq drives yet.

In the past I'd hesitate to recommend anything other than Verbatim DL media, but I've been getting okay results with Memorex's Ritek manufactured 8x DL media. Unfortunately, I don't think its supported by the DW1640.

I've burned 35 Indian Verbatim DL's so far. No coasters, and they play perfectly. While I would much rather have MIS Verb's, so far I've got no reason to dislike the MII's.

I started to stockpile the MIS DVD+R DL discs but then I noticed that the major retail stores started restocking with MIS discs in the new packaging. Some have theories that Verbatim recognized their mistake either from a public outcry (online) or internal quality control and shifted more of the 2.4x DL production back to Singapore. I now see more MIS spindles than MII at Best Buy and Office Max.

I can guarentee you that is not that case. MBI still gets MASSIVE orders for Verbatim DVD+RDL, and would probably get larger orders yet if they could improve the yields on the media that is up to Verbatim's spec.

Furthermore, Verbatim will be moving more and more of their Singapore production to 8x DVD+RDLs , and then 16x. I expect 2.4x to be completely phased out of Singapore later this year.
