Third Party Patent Activation [Nero 8]

I added a video file to burn using Nero 8 and got a message, basically saying

I need to connect to the internet to enable a one time activation.

Because of this I can't burn. I opened up Nero for the first time while I was connected to the internet. I'm not sure about this activation because I downloaded Nero from a torrent (hey I'm a cheapskate). I also uninstalled and reinstalled Nero but got the same problem.

What could be the problem? This is the first time I've seen this message while using both Nero 7 and 8.

You need to activate the license for the video encoders. Keep in mind, that if you're using a pirated copy, it will probably flag it as such.
