[b]Hi, I ordered Fuji Gold CD-R's and when I opened the box I now have
"Promaster PhotoImage CD-r's. Here is the Speed test. Also I ordered Maxell Pro CD-R as I need CD's to put old ancestry photos on. The guy had 200 of these so I bought them all. Was this stupid? Thanks, JAS

It's probably due to the time of year, being Christmas and all.

I don't have any experience with Promaster PhotoImage, but knowing that they're made by CMC, they're probably not the best choice for long term backups. The Maxell Pro discs are probably a better choice as, if I remember right, are made by TY.

How you fine right now

The Q6600 is still not bad, with a SSD it should be still run fast

Scour is right. Everything is fast again with an SSD.

I'm running two ancient I7 boards with the fastest chips they can take and SSD's and they are still very fast. I do a lot of video recoding and they burn through that much faster then my original AMD 1090t hex core I ran for years could by a huge margin. Old box could take many hours, new box does same video in like 10 minutes or less. It also helps to have plenty of memory but with a nice fast and cheap SSD most any box will boot almost instantly compared to what your used to and you can use your old drives just to hold large data and things.
