New Samsung SH-182M firmware

Postby deinabog on Wed Jul 04, 2007 8:05 am

I installed the SB05 firmware on my Samsung burners and it did correct a some problems (not ejecting some DL discs and splash-screen playback for Titan Quest) I was having. Anyone with an SH-182 model will want to download it.

I am already on SB06 for my SH-S182D, it is on the Samsung site.

According to Samsung's web site the latest firmware for the SH-182M is SB05; the SB06 update is for the SH-182D which is slightly different drive. I'm airing on the side of caution here especially since my burners are working perfectly now.

You did not include the "M" in your first post!
As I wrote for the SH-S182D the firmware is SB06.

I apologize for leaving out that the firmware is for the SH-182M. I'll change the title of the thread to reflect that.

Can you revert?

Postby 2Dogs on Sat Nov 24, 2007 3:04 pm

Hi deinabog,

don't suppose you (or any other S182M user) could tell me if it's possible to revert to an earlier firmware revision after installing SB05?

The reason I ask is that I found SB04 messed up writing to some media in my S182M, so I went back to SB03. I'd hate to install SB05, only to discover problems and not be able to revert to SB03.

You should be able to revert back the same way you went back before... unless there is a warning in the Firmware readme that indicates you cannot.

Success

Thanks Sith,

although I didn't have no stinkin' readme file, I dived in and installed SB05 - then reinstalled SB03 - then reinstalled SB05 again. No problems. I have some new crappy media (Nexxtech 16x +R and -R) from the Black Friday sales, so it'll be interesting to see if SB05 can make a silk purse out of a sow's ear... :D
