using dvd+ type discs instead of regular cdr cds

Postby coonsanders on Sat Oct 27, 2007 3:52 pm

hi
i need an opinion between dvd+r and cdr type media.can u use dvd+
discs as a replacement to regular cdr discs as cdr cds only hold 80
minates of stuff?i want to do this as i might have more stuff by an artist
that a cdr wont hold.are dvd+ type discs only meant 4 data stuff or can
you use them in place of cdr discs??thanks

You cannot play a DVD in CD player or CD ROM drive.

However if you just want a disc that has a bunch of music on it, you could make a VIDEO DVD that would hold a lot of music. You would then play this disc in your DVD player (Roxio Music Disc Creator has this option).

Alternately, You could encode the music as MP3 files and play them on your computer or even some DVD players can also play them. I don't think these are real common, but I have a DVD player that can play MP3 files from CD-R or recorded DVD.

Good Luck!

hi red

yep your right dvds wont play in my cd player.i have alot of jazz and big
band stuff and it would have been nice to put one band on a dvd+and be
able to play THAT rather than break up the music onto 5 or 6 cdrs.thanks
