SATA Card That Works With Optical Drives?

Can anyone recommend a PCI SATA card that works with optical drives? It only needs like 2 or 4 ports.

I have read that the Adaptec 1210SA and 1220SA cards support ODD very well. But Adaptec cards can be pricey... There is one from Silicon Image that supposedly works well too, I just can't recall the chipset... in the office right now so my searches are "monitored"

The Silicon image 680 (680A ?) chipset suppofts optical drives, I'm using one with a MSI 865 chipset motherboard

A guy I work with said he got ODD to work with this (I think it needed a firmware update):

Syba SD-SATA-4P (Based on Silicon Image SIL3114)

At the moment I use without problems a Plextor PX-760SA burner
connected to this Promise SATA300 TX2plus PCI card
on an an ASUS P4P800-E Deluxe mainboard.

This PCI card has 2 Serial ATA connexions + 1 Ultra ATA/133 connexion

I just dusted off my old game machine and used that. It's got an Intel chipset that works fine with all optical SATA drives.

Ian, I would recommend Adaptec, 3ware, LSI, Acera or Intel. The lower end cards may give problems in compatibility with some optics and HD's as well.
