SH-S182D SB05 firmware released.

Postby Spazmogen on Wed Mar 07, 2007 10:13 pm

SB05 has been released.

I got it via the Samsung Auto update feature.

I didn't see this mentioned elsewhere, so I thought I'd make a post about it.

As of this writing, I have not checked to see if the -R lead in issue has been resolved in this release.

I checked samsungodd.com and the changelog for SB05 says "Nothing special."

wtf Samsung? If there's nothing special, why release it?

"So Samsung, why did you release so many ODDs?"
"Nothing special"..

Which comedian writes these changelogs, anyway?

"Nothing special" = No fix for DVD-R Lead-In. It is rumoured they are not going to fix it.

I'll know if the -R lead is is fixed in 48 hours or so.

Its March Break and I'm helping a relative install a new floor this week, as well as taking Jr. Spaz to see Monster Trucks.

I thought Ian was joking, he wasn't!

thanks.

I'm not surprised I beat RPC1org. I had not seen anything anywhere about it.
Not even on CDFreaks which seems to have had an active discussion about the -R lead in problem.

Another CDR Labs exclusive! You read it here folks!

Wow! Thanks for the pics, that really allows others to visual and understand the lead-in problem...

Thanks ala42, according to the thread at CDF, it looks like Jan70 was able to convince Samsung to release a special SB04 firmware with the lead-in fixed.

Get it here:
http://download.cdfreaks.com/download/196

Jan70 wrote:I have been in contact with Samsung, and asked them to make a "CDFreaks edition" of the firmware SB04, which should have the Lead-In “problem” fixed. Please notice that this firmware is NOT an official firmware.

The firmware flasher can be obtained here.

The Firmware SB04 “CDFreaks edition” (dated 9th of November) can be downloaded here.

Yes, its been well documented.

But the question is: Does the SB05 official release fix the lead in issue ?

I believe it has been fixed.

I believe it has been fixed.

Both worker and C0deKing stated that the lead-in problem is NOT fixed in SB05 in the CDFreaks thread...

For me, the problem is fixed.

I am able to burn -R data & video DVD's and have them read & play on standalone DVD players and other computers with DVD burners.

As I mentioned above, it still looks a bit bigger than it should be, but SB05 works for me.

The -R discs were 16x Verbatim -R. made in Taiwan. I burn them fine @ 18x.

As for the results that worker & COdeKing are getting, you'd have to ask them about it, I can't speak for them.
