ImgBurn BSOD w/PX-716SA

Postby roadrunner on Wed Feb 14, 2007 7:05 pm

OK, I have a Plextor PX-716SA Serial ATA burner, and two IDE burners. The problem is when I start ImgBurn, it BSOD XP.

This only happens when the PX-716 is installed; with it removed, no BSOD's. This is with an Asus A8R32 MVP Deluxe mobo (Crossfire 3200 chipset).

Note that DVD Decrypter works fine.

Anyone have any ideas?

I'd really like to resolve this. I really like the PX-716; it's the only thing I've seen that can do this:

Mods: I wasn't quite sure where to place this. It's sorta hardware related, burner related, and software related :-?

Edit: Ok, screw it! Pulling this thing. I think it's toast...just burned and tested a DL disc in it. Doesn't quite seem up to the quality level I had with it in the past :o

oops you only have the 1600 chipset, not the 3200:

Lovely board.

ImgBurn works fine w/o the Plextor installed. Not sure why. I'm an idiot, though, and forgot about the secondary SATA controller on the board, so I'm going to hook the PX-716 to that and see what happens (I recently had some random hard drive trouble, and moving it to a different SATA slot+cable solved it - so I may have a bad SATA connector on my mobo  ).

I'll experament and see if it does it on the other controller too. The drive my have given up the ghost, though, judging by the current media scans of the DL discs...sucks, too...that thing ROCKED for DL burning before.
