Slysoft AnyDVD HD Beta

Postby Ian on Wed Feb 07, 2007 10:57 pm

Is anyone else beta testing AnyDVD HD? If you have an HD DVD drive and want to give it a try, details on how to sign up can be found here:

I downloaded it tonite and gave it a try. There is no documentation on how the HD DVD component works so I've just been playing around with it. Here's a screenshot from the settings menu.

Weird.. AnyDVD HD renames the AACS and AACS_BAK directories to ones called SLY! and ANYDVDHD.

There is no Rip to Harddisk option yet but as long as AnyDVD is enabled, you can go and copy the EVO files to your hard drive. The files are then playable, even if AnyDVD is not enabled. I've run into some playback issues but this may be due to the version of PowerDVD I'm using. Then again, they play fine off the disc.

For some reason, PowerDVD 6.5 had problems playing back those files. I upgraded to 7.2 and they're now as smooth as butter.

btw.. CyberLink's HD Advisor doesn't detect drives past a certain drive letter. My HD DVD drive was set to K: and the software would not see it until I moved it to F:. Too many optical drives I guess.
