Pioneer DVR-112D and DVR-112 Out In Japan

According to Akiba2Go! and AKIBA PC Hotline!, the DVR-112D and DVR-112 are now out in Japan. The pictures show that prices are 5480 Yen ($46US) for the DVR-112D and 6280 Yen ($53US) for the DVR-112.

I would totally order that if I could find a Japanese store willing to ship to Canada :(

I wouldn't bother importing one. By the time it would show up, Newegg would have em in stock for less.

hrm... maybe if I can get one of those nicer looking models that never make it to North America. I'm deffinately due for an order to Japan anyways. But after the new year for sure :P

Yep a a112 axl or what ever the top dog nice looking model would be great, might be the only geek around with one of those if any of us got one :wink:

Will it also be avaible as an Asus-rebadge?

18 speed and 10x dl as far as I have read so far, also will probably get the label flash hack soon too with bitsetting courtesy of the Buffulo varient.

If it´s based on a NEC-chipset, is LS possible?

They could probably include it if they wanted to, but I doubt they do.

They need the lightscribe hardware to work, otherwise it's not possible to add it.
All LS enabled drives I have seen have a red led inside the tray for laser positioning so if you can't see one lit up when the tray is open it doesn't have it.

It looks like the DVR-112D will be available in the US. Pioneer has it listed as the DVR-1810.

It is. Picked one up at Best Buy. Price was $59.99 but in the end it cost me nothing because I had 3 $100 gift cards from an awards program. Doing some testing on it now and so far I have not been impressed. 18X burning on this drive needs work.

Well, this could be the "even numbered Pioneer" curse whereby the even numbered units seem to be sorta iffy, or it could just be off to the traditional Pioneer start that the drives seem pretty flaky but with 2-3 firmware updates become spectacular.

There is a firmware update out for the 112 all ready, have you tried it? The Dangerous Brothers have several buffalo variations out now. http://tdb.rpc1.org/#DVR112D

I had downloaded all of the firmwares including the DB ones. I'm taking a different approach with this burner. I'm seeing what the burns look like with 1.06 then I'll upgrade it and see if it's better. Usually I just flash right to the latest. I told myself I would not get another drive but I guess I did not listen.. #-o

Cool, good idea seeing how they claim you can't go back ;) Been thinking about the latest toy, The samsung hasn't impressed me much with it's limited overspeed capabilities and recording quality here. 10x DL might be nice if it actually allows the Verbatims I have to do 10.
