Advice: Notebook deals and wireless router reviews

Postby cosmichippo on Sun Nov 26, 2006 11:51 am

Hey all,

Looking for a little advice and asking for links to sites related to the questions below.

Went to Staples early Black Friday, about 20th in line, they came out and were giving tickets for what you wanted before the doors opened to avoid bedlam. Got to us, said we wanted the $400 notebook on the front page of the add and were told " Didn't have that item. They have it in Killeen." Killeen is 30 miles away and it was 20 til 6am so obviously no cheap notebook for us. Really pissed as this was on the national ad and every version of the local ads that we found.

Anyway, now back on the hunt for a decent $400 notebook. Does anyone have links to any sites that keep up with all current great deals specificaly on laptops? If so, please share.

Also looking for a new wireless router with a really good/configurable wired section. I do ALOT of bittorrent and my sons game online, mainly XBox 360. We only use wireless for web and ocassional file trans and printing. Can anyone point me to a site that has good indepth reviews that focus on overall performance? I have found plenty that detail setup ease and wireless range.

Thanks for any help, I hope those in the US have had a good holiday,
Peace,
Mike

For deals, I usually check techbargains.com or gotapex.com. The hot deals forums at fatwallet.com and anandtech.com are also a good place to look.

As far as router reviews go, there used to be a website that did very good reviews of them. I can't remember where though. I'll see if I can find it again.
