DL Media

Postby X-Nemesis on Wed Nov 01, 2006 8:24 am

Is DL media not able to be produced in greater quantities so as to bring down the prices to say $1 per disk even?

Was just checking out blankmedia.ca and they're around $2 per disk.

Or is the future of DL media in doubt due to the oncoming of HD-DVD and BluRay?

Well, you JUST missed the big sale on it at NCIX.com, where it was $23.99/20pk after an $11 mail in rebate.

The price of DVD+RDL is deffinately coming down, but that $1/disc price point is VERY hard to hit! Even Memorex hasn't quite hit it yet. I'm sure we'll see it eventually, but companies like Verbatim will most likely have to oursource their media before we can see pricing like that.

Yeah, but a lot of companies are already phasing out their 2.4x DL media in favor of 8x rated discs. This will keep the price high.

That's true... I believe most companies aren't even making 2.4x DVD+RDL anymore... although Verbatim still is for sure.

actually, that deal still exists (for another 5 days from the day i posted this). NCIX sale prices go for a week after the sales end and the MIR ends Nov. 4th. gotta be quick though... theres only 1-2 left and i just ordered 1 a few minutes ago. seems like when they go out of stock (ie, when it says 2-5 business days) the sale price goes away.

cmon dolph, you should know this! =P

well ok... I DID know that.... but I also knew they were effectively out of stock and I didn't have the promo ID on me to post. Also, I couldn't remember exactly how long the promo ID lasted for officially, so I didn't want to make empty promises. I don't usually buy stuff online from NCIX since I can just walk into their store and pick it up.

Murphy's Law.

I just bought the 10 pack of 2.4x Memorex from Bestbuy.ca for $12.99/10 pack. I have no doubt they will not go faster than 2.4x

I'll wait.
