Hmm maybe then they finally fixed the bonding issue ? Oh now that one is pure random so the bonding was good in this case but just a even more crazy screw-up.

I've seen a lot more defects on TY CD-Rs lately as well, but nothing NEARLY as bad as with the DVDRs. I would say all Taiyo Yuden DVD±R media is affected though.
In that case, I'm glad I still have a 100 CD-R spindle in a half of the 1160s from last year still handy. If the CD-Rs are that bad, I may be buying Verbatim when I run out. Of course, I'll come back here and check again when it's time.

Thanks man!

I've seen TY cd-r's with problems luckilly not much and it was solved out nicely. However I have to say I still will recommend TY over verbatim cd-r's based on the testing data. It seems that there is no good replacement for TY cd-r's. So let's hope they don't fuck these up to much.

No TY's bonding problems with DVD media go back to 1x dvd-r and why they did slightly improve things the problem still is there.
Also that fuji disc that splitted in my case when taking it out of the case was a 4x TY DVD-R disc. So 4x media is not more safe. But so far I did have more luck with bonding of 4x +R media but also there the problem exists based on multiple brands and unbranded media.

Like I said earlier and I think it's infamous in the community I had a FUJI 4x DVD-R splitting. I can say that the problem seems to exists with all TY media.
Trying to make something "foolproof" only forces nature to make a better fool.
