What's the fastest you've ever burned a CD-R?

Postby dolphinius_rex on Wed Oct 11, 2006 6:39 pm

I've seen some drives offering 54x CD recording speeds, and I've even seen some media advertised for 56x recording. But what is the ACTUAL fastest time someone has ever burned a full CD-R? (full CD-R = ~700MB ±3MB)

I'll post my own once a few people have responded with their fastest burn times :wink:
Punch Cards -> Paper Tape -> Tape Drive -> 8" Floppy Diskette -> 5 1/4" Floppy Diskette -> 3 1/2" "Flippy" Diskette -> CD-R -> DVD±R -> BD-R

I still have Mitsumi's 54x CD-RW drive. I don't think it was the fastest I've tested though.

Looking back through my old reviews, the ASUS CRW-5232AS was the fastest. It took 2:29 to burn 701MB with Nero.

I believe my personal best was around 2:20 or so, for a full 703mb disc.

Using Lite On SOHR-5238S a year or so ago.

Oddly, I bought it for the re-write speeds and 99 minute overburning ability. Neither of which I bother with anymore.

I use the registry patch to show actual speed, and it finished around 53.8x
TY media of course.
