Ritek accepts veeza and is licensed for CD-R production !

Looks like Digitimes (and also cdrlabs front page :D )
is behind.

Ritek fixed there cd-r licensing under the Veeza terms. With Ritek accepting I think more taiwanese manufacuters will follow.

Current manufacturers for Veeza that are listed at Philips licensing site.

Industrias Plasticas Catamarca S.A. CD-R disc Argentina

Kunshan Hutek Co., Ltd.
Associated company: Kunshan Hutek Co., Ltd. CD-R disc China

Ritek Corporation CD-R disc Taiwan R.O.C.

Teltron S.A. CD-R disc Argentina

Do you think Ritek was "forced" into this by Philips given the latest CD-R liscensing fiasco? What do manufacturers stand to gain by adopting Veeza?

Well, it seems like licensing under the old method is no longer available (I might be wrong?), so in this case being licensed under Veeza would mean not having illegal product, and worrying about all your shipments being confiscated by Philips.

Also, the licensing costs are cheaper under Veeza then under the old system.

The down side being more paperwork making it more difficult to do back door deals?

From Ritek's perspective that would be a downside yes

Yeah, but companies are having to hire more people to take care of all the paperwork. In the long run, it will probably cost even more. Damn you Philips!!

Based on my calculations and stuff from third parties I say it costs less under veeza but still much more as some compannies like.

That's because companies want to be able to produce media with $0.00 extra cost in order to get some deals... but now they can't :P
